When to Pitch Each Product

GridKnock works with every major Texas solar PPA and TPO product. Pull the data first. Then let the customer's usage tell you which product fits.

⚡ SOLRITE + Sonnen VPP

$0.12/kWh · 25yr lock · 3 sonnen batteries · VPP grid participant

  • Wants protection, not just savings — grid-down fear is real (Uri, Beryl)
  • Average to high usage — any kWh range qualifies
  • Values whole-home backup (up to 60kWh storage)
  • Not concerned about REP lock — Abundance Energy is the paired REP
  • Savings-first mindset — 30% below current market rate
  • Does not need or want ownership — PPA structure preferred
  • No SPAN smart panel needed — sonnen handles load management

🌙 Sunrun Free Nights

Night electricity FREE · Franklin aPower 2 · Reliant $20/mo credit

  • High night usage (65%+ of consumption after 9pm)
  • Smaller roof or lower annual kWh — system sized conservatively
  • Budget-conscious household with night-heavy lifestyle
  • Currently with Reliant — easy REP transition, familiar brand
  • Wants smaller system footprint — less visual impact on roof
  • Not purchasing EV in near term — daytime charging would offset savings
  • Comfortable with Reliant as long-term REP partner

⚡ Sunrun FLEX

120% system · Tesla Powerwall 3 · Tesla Electric REP · VPP sellback

  • Growing household — EV coming, pool planned, family expanding
  • Wants largest possible system (120% annual usage offset)
  • Tech-forward — Tesla Powerwall brand preference, app-driven
  • VPP income + sellback credits appeal (Tesla Electric REP required)
  • High current usage (18,000+ kWh/yr) or expects to grow
  • Interested in SPAN smart panel option for load control
  • Comfortable with two separate bills — Sunrun + Tesla Electric

☀ Palmetto LightReach

$125/mo starting · 90% production guarantee · 25yr · commercial ITC passed through

  • Wants simplest possible solar experience — one bill, zero maintenance
  • Moderate usage — 10,000 to 16,000 kWh/yr is the sweet spot
  • Risk-averse homeowner — 90% production guarantee removes performance worry
  • Doesn't care about ownership — just wants the bill to go down
  • Credit-approved but not interested in a loan payment
  • Escalator-sensitive — 0% to 2.99% escalator options available
  • Not interested in battery backup — panels-only household
  • Prefers established national brand with 25-year track record

🐙 Octopus Energy VPP

Enphase battery · $40/mo VPP bill credits · grid participation · backup retained

  • Already has or wants Enphase solar + battery system
  • Interested in passive monthly income from grid participation
  • Environmentally motivated — wants to actively support grid stability
  • Comfortable with utility grid interaction and smart home tech

  • Wants battery storage option paired with PPA — GoodLeap supports storage add-on
  • Prefers brand stability — GoodLeap has financed over $32B across 1M+ homeowners
  • Not interested in REP switching — PPA handles solar billing separately

🔋 EnFin PPA (by Qcells)

Qcells-backed · levelized billing · $0 down · 30yr panel warranty option · Aurora integrated

  • Installer is already an EnFin/Qcells certified partner
  • Wants levelized (smoothed) billing — same payment every month, not production-variable
  • Quality-conscious — Qcells is the #1 US solar manufacturer, top hardware reputation
  • Credit score 650+ with flexible underwriting for edge cases
  • Interested in long-term performance warranty (30-year on select Qcells modules)
  • Not asking about tax credits — EnFin owns the system and captures ITC
  • Wants integrated point-of-sale experience — Aurora Solar proposal to contract in one flow
  • Open to grid services participation through Qcells incentive programs

📋 Any PPA / Generic TPO

Any third-party ownership product · $0 down · 25yr term · Section 48E ITC captured

  • Rep is selling a TPO product not listed above — GridKnock works for all of them
  • Customer qualifies for solar but specific product hasn't been determined yet
  • Customer wants $0 down with no ownership responsibility — core TPO value prop
  • Section 25D is expired — remind customer that TPO captures the 30% ITC via 48E
  • Customer is comparing multiple quotes — use the report to anchor the conversation
  • Any Texas deregulated TDU territory — CenterPoint, Oncor, AEP, TNMP all supported
  • Rep needs the data story regardless of which product closes — GridKnock is product-agnostic

The D2D Funnel Calculator

The Half-Quarter-Half-Quarter-Half Rule — used by top-producing Texas solar reps to predict weekly installs from doors worked.

150
Doors ProspectedHomes you approach with intent — lights on, cars in the driveway, signs someone is actually home. Not every house on the street. Quality over volume. 150
Doors Opened (÷2)Half of your prospected doors will open. Someone answers. You get a face. This is your first filter — and the one GridKnock moves most. 75
Opportunities Created (÷4)A quarter of the people who answer the door will engage enough to become a real conversation. They're curious, they have a bill problem, or the timing is right. This is where your opening matters. 18
Sit-Downs (÷2)Half of your opportunities will agree to sit down and go through the full presentation — at the kitchen table, on the porch, or at the door with a tablet. This is where the 16-page report closes the gap. 9
Closes (÷4)A quarter of your sit-downs will sign. They've seen the numbers, they understand the grid risk, and the PPA math made sense. This is your conversion rate — and it compounds fast when your close rate improves. 2
Installs (÷2)Half of your closes will install. Credit issues, HOA problems, roof conditions, and change of heart account for the falloff. This is your real number — the one that pays. 1

What GridKnock does to your funnel
Top reps using GridKnock report moving their door-open rate from 50% toward 60-65% because they walk up with data. When you show a homeowner their actual 12-month Smart Meter data and a 25-year cost projection before they can say no, more doors stay open. At 150 doors/week, moving your open rate from 50% to 60% means 15 more conversations every week. At your current funnel ratios, that ripples all the way through to more installs and more commission — automatically.
Additional installs/month at 60% open rate: +1.5
Additional installs/year at 60% open rate: +19.5

Frequently Asked Questions

Smart Meter Texas is the state-run portal that stores interval meter data for every home on the Texas deregulated grid. Every smart meter records your usage in 15-minute intervals — that's over 35,000 data points per year per customer. GridKnock connects directly to SMT using the homeowner's ESIID or address and pulls that raw data to build the report. No estimates. No averages. Actual usage from their actual meter.

About 60 seconds from the time you run the command to when the PDF lands in Discord. The bot pulls the interval data, runs it through the report engine, generates all 16 pages including the AI door script and objection playbook, and delivers it directly to your channel. On days when Smart Meter Texas is in scheduled maintenance, reports queue automatically and deliver when SMT comes back online.

GridKnock works on any address served by a Texas deregulated utility — CenterPoint (Houston), Oncor (DFW), AEP Texas, and TNMP. That covers the majority of Texas. Cooperative and municipal utility territories like Austin Energy and CPS Energy are not on the deregulated grid and are not supported.

The report covers 12 months of actual billing data, monthly day/night/shoulder usage splits, a 25-year cost escalation projection, ERCOT grid risk profile, summer peak exposure analysis, solar production window, PPA comparison, battery backup calculator, carbon footprint, neighborhood adoption data, REP context, federal incentive summary, a dynamic NEPQ door script built from the customer's data, and a 4-objection AI playbook specific to that homeowner's profile. Pages 1–14 are homeowner-facing. Pages 15–16 are rep-only coaching.

Yes. GridKnock accesses SMT data using credentials you provide — your own registered SMT account. Customer data is used solely to generate the report and is never sold, shared, or stored beyond the session. Reports are delivered directly to your private Discord channel or via encrypted SMS/email to the rep on file.

Monthly plans cancel anytime with no penalty — your access continues through the end of the billing period. Annual plans are non-refundable after the first 7 days but you keep full access through the end of your term. No contracts, no cancellation fees.

The full 16-page report includes two sections. Pages 1–14 are the homeowner report — the energy data, projections, grid risk, PPA comparison, and neighborhood stats. Pages 15–16 are rep-only coaching pages that include your dynamic NEPQ door script with real numbers from that customer's data and a 4-objection AI playbook generated specifically for that homeowner's profile. The homeowner never sees pages 15–16.

When the report generates, GridKnock analyzes the customer's usage profile and flags likely objections based on their data — high bill shock, night-heavy usage, grid reliability concerns, long-term cost exposure, and others. It then sends those flags to GridKnock's AI engine which writes 4 custom objection responses tailored to that specific homeowner. Every playbook is different because every customer's data is different. You get the exact words to say, not generic rebuttals.
